Your privacy is important to us! We have taken steps to limit the information we store about you and wish to be as transparent as possible about the way we deal with your data.

This policy came into effect from 25th May 2018 following the new ‘GDPR’ (General Data Protection Regulation)

Here is what happens when you order a book from our website:

You are taken through the WooCommerce shopping software on our website. Your details (name, address, telephone number, email address) are stored in our website’s database as an ‘order’. We do not store or have access to your payment details if you check out as a ‘guest’.

PayPal processes your payment (see their privacy policy here). A record of your purchase and personal information is stored in our PayPal account.

What happens after your order is complete?

Once we organise delivery of your order, an automated email will be sent to you to say the order has been ‘completed’. Then, we add your full name and email address to our contact lists held with our (info@preciousbees.com) email account service providers:

  1. Windows Live Mail (see their privacy policy here) We have access to this account via (1) a personal laptop with password protection (2) a mobile phone device with fingerprint/password protection.
  2. MailChimp (see their privacy policy here) MailChimp is an EMS (email marketing service provider). An EMS is a third party service provider of software/applications that allows Precious Bees to send out email campaigns about our new releases and/or special offers to a list of our contacts. Email marketing messages that we send may contain tracking beacons/tracked clickable links or similar server technologies in order to track general subscriber activity within email marketing messages. Where used, such marketing messages may record a range of data such as; times, dates, I.P addresses, opens, clicks, forwards, geographic and demographic data. Such data, within its limitations, will show the activity subscribers (in general, not identifiable personally) made for that email campaign. Any email marketing messages we send are in accordance with the GDPR and the PECR. We provide you with an easy method to withdraw your consent (unsubscribe) or manage your preferences/the information we hold about you at any time. See the links at the bottom of our emails for instructions on how to unsubscribe or manage your preferences. Our MailChimp account is accessed via a personal laptop with double password protection.

Once we process your order & organise delivery, we will send you an email to:

  • acknowledge your order
  • confirm we have dispatched your order

Why do we want to add your name and email to our contact list (aka subscribers list)?

To share the love!

We offer sales and promotions during special occasions. And we want to let customers know when a new book is out. Not everybody uses social media to follow us so it’s our way of sharing updates with customers. We don’t send emails out regularly – we promise not to bombard your inbox!

To summarise, where is your data held?

We do not copy your details from the website database and store in any other location (physical or electronic). This means your personal information is only kept in our website database, our PayPal account, and the two email service providers listed above.

What if you don’t want your details stored by us?

If you’re one of our social media followers (thank you!) and don’t need email updates just simply unsubscribe next time you get an email. Or email us now (info@preciousbees.com) and we’ll do the rest. If after your purchase you wish for your details to be erased from our website database, and the two email contact lists, please email us. Please be aware that your details cannot be removed from our PayPal account.

What if you want to order from us but don’t want your details stored by these mentioned databases/service providers?

You may order a book by sending us a PayPal payment to info@preciousbees.com (please provide as much information as possible in the notes section and ensure you have paid the correct postage). By using this method, you agree to your details being held by PayPal only.

Alternatively, we have a growing list of online and physical stores who sell our books. You are welcome to buy from them directly -in shaa Allah.
