25th May 2021 (updated again, 7th June 2021)

Most of us celebrated the end of Ramadan and Eid with a heaviness in our hearts due to what happened in Palestine. That heaviness continues till now.

What can we do about it? Make du’a, donate, speak out & share resources and materials. This is a chance for us to learn more, for ourselves, and teach our children about the importance of Al Aqsa. And understand the history of the plight of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.

Alhamdulillah – there is a growing list of resources to help us teach children about Al Aqsa & Palestine! (The ‘guide’ on Instagram is has 27 resources so far. It’s updated daily so please do check it out.)

1. A FREE 30-page activity booklet from Learning Roots

2. A short video series on The Azharis channel on YouTube by Sheikh Saalim Al-Azhari & kids

Sheikh Saalim says: Part of our duty is to empower the next generation with knowledge about Masjid Al Aqsa, its importance & how we can help.

Video 2 Masjid Al Aqsa – Who built it? Why is it important?

3. A bundle of beneficial resources can be found at Islamic Studies Resources

There is also a heartwarming competition hosted by Miraj Stories that your children can enter:

The Miraj Stories app contains ebooks, audiobooks and activities for Muslim children. There is an interactive book called ‘The Amazing Night Journey’. If your kids love gadgets, then investing in Miraj Stories subscriptions will lead to beneficial screen time.

The following post is not suitable for children to read but adults can use it to inform their teaching:

The Travelling Imam (Dr Waleed Hakeem of Ilmpath.com) wrote a great post about the rich history of a Palestinian city called Jaffa

Do you have any suggestions? Please comment below and we will periodically update our list Insha’Allah.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan.
